Make an impact with MPS Partnerships

Putting the planet and professions first

Our health is intrinsically linked to the health of our planet. Climate change and pollution increase disease, reduce quality and quantity of life, and pile yet more pressure on health professionals worldwide. That’s why we’re helping create a greener, safer world for all.

Everything we do, from our eco-initiatives and positive investment practices to our goal of Net Zero emissions by 2027, is driven by our commitment to members.

Our environmental actions

A brighter tomorrow is only possible through what we do today.

Every action counts, and we’ll continue to do what we can to help protect the future of our planet.

CO2 cloud

Reducing our emissions and resource consumption, and using green energy suppliers.

Leaf

Restoring threatened tropical habitat with a World Land Trust certification and using carbon-balanced paper for our printed communications.

Car

Switching to digital publications to reduce the environmental impact of production, distribution, and recycling.

Recycling

Upcycling unused IT equipment with Computer Aid to avoid it going into landfill.

That’s why we’re:

  • investing over £300m in companies that support climate solutions and social initiatives
  • pledging £100m to activities that directly improve the communities and environment we live in – such as investing in rural broadband to boost access to education and employment opportunities, and supporting battery development to guarantee a greener, more connected future for all
  • not investing in tobacco, alcohol, weapons, foods high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS), and other harmful industries, to reflect our members’ values
  • the first medical defence organisation to join the United Nations’ Principles of Responsible Investment – a global network of companies creating change around environmental, social, and governance issues.

Why are these initiatives important for your organisation?

The NHS net zero supplier roadmap sets out the steps suppliers must take to align with the NHS net zero ambition through to 2030.

Currently all companies that are suppliers to the NHS with a contract value of £5m+ must publicly announce their net zero targets, emissions, and have a carbon reduction plan for global emissions aligned with the NHS’s net zero target of 2040, covering all of their Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

From April 2024, the NHS will proportionately extend the Carbon Reduction Plan requirements to cover all new procurements.

Scope 3 is carbon emissions from your value/supply chain, which means NHS contractors need to ensure their own suppliers align to the NHS targets and rules.

Therefore, by choosing MPS Partnerships, you can rest assured that as your supplier, we are already aligned to the NHS net zero supplier roadmap.
